This distinction is not merely a degree, but the culmination of dedication, perseverance, intense study, and sacrifice. Additionally, Caleb received the 2025 PhD Dissertation Award. Such presentations acknowledge exceptional research which makes significant original contributions impacting their specific discipline. Following graduation from 海角原创, Caleb worked in the intensive care units of a large public hospital. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he reports, 鈥渢he overwhelming amount of suffering and death that I witnessed on a daily basis drove me to look for ways to better support both critically ill patients and their family members.鈥 He recognized the negative physical and emotional strain the responsibility of decision making had on surrogate decision-makers (SDM) and the crucial need for trust between SDM and healthcare professionals (HCPs). However, to 鈥渄evelop interventions to increase trust and improve SDM outcomes, trust must be quantifiable,鈥 and there was no 鈥渧alidated instrument with which to measure鈥 it. That 鈥渢ool鈥 became Caleb鈥檚 dissertation focus. He probed the 鈥渁ntecedents鈥 and 鈥渃onsequences of trust鈥 and reviewed literature to 鈥渕ap鈥 what was known, applying a 鈥渃onceptual model.鈥 He identified […]

About the Event 海角原创 Alumni are invited to join us in performing Dan Forrest鈥檚 Requiem for the Living at Cavalry Baptist Church in Watertown. Alumni Spotlight: Dan Chodan and the ERC /alumni/chodan-and-the-erc/ Fri, 03 Nov 2023 16:45:06 +0000 /?p=137429 MBU alumnus Dan Chodan (鈥13) appeared in the news recently regarding his work with Employee Retention Credit (ERC), a Covid relief program designed to help small businesses recover from the financial blow they received in 2020. Although ERC was meant to be helpful, in recent years scammers have widely abused the system by filing fake claims, seeking percentage cuts, and falsely advertising to small business owners in hopes of making money off them. As an accountant, Chodan is serving on the front lines to protect people from falling for these scams, in addition to processing their legitimate claims for the real ERC. Chodan has spent the past decade working for Trout CPA, the top accounting firm in Pennsylvania. Trout provides accounting, audit, tax, and business advisory services, and Chodan works often with small business owners, doing compliance work and advising on transitions, mergers, and acquisitions. Currently, he serves on Trout鈥檚 Auto Dealerships and Manufacturing Practice Groups. ERC and the Fight against Fraud When Covid hit in 2020, many small businesses struggled financially as much of their clientele were advised to stay home. ERC was developed to provide help for these businesses, and, according to Chodan, it was hugely successful at […]

Lydia Narloch | First Nursing Class Alumna Update /alumni/lydia-narloch-alumna/ Tue, 19 Apr 2022 16:50:59 +0000 /?p=127526 As a member of the very first graduating class from MBU鈥檚 Nursing program, alumna Lydia Narloch remains forever thankful for God鈥檚 timing. MBU introduced the Nursing program during her sophomore year and, having already felt God鈥檚 calling in the area of Nursing, Lydia jumped at the opportunity to be a part of it. She graduated in 2008 with her BSN and obtained work as a medical-surgical nurse, quickly gaining experience in other departments as well, such as ICU and rehabilitation. Not long after, Lydia cross-trained into the house supervisor role at her hospital, and this has proven to be her current and favorite position, even after stepping into an interim position as ICU manager for a short period. Lydia declares that she loves her job and views the hospital God has placed her in as her mission field, meeting the physical and spiritual needs of those around her, and she has even had the chance to extend that mindset across the world; she received the opportunity in 2011 and again in 2015 to travel to Cameroon and Cambodia respectively on medical missions trips. Because of her godly influence and the evidence of God鈥檚 hand upon her life, her coworkers have […]
