Allison Rhodes: Senior Piano Recital Excerpts

Allison Rhodes recently performed her major senior piano recital at ��ԭ��. Her recital was prepared and presented under the direction of Mrs. Ruth Brown in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Pedagogy and General Music. Rhodes plans to graduate this spring and move back to her hometown of Dwight, IL. She looks forward to using her business degree in an administrative job while setting up her private piano teaching studio for the long term. Excerpts from the recital are below.

Chamber Singers Chapel Recording

“Brethren, we have met to worship,” announced the Chamber Singers in the opening strains of their final concert of spring tour. This year’s choir members hailed from Canada to the Cayman Islands and from Maine to Ho Chi Minh City. Who would have thought 50 years ago that our scope of “brethren” at ��ԭ�� would include a student from Vietnam? Truly the Lord does marvelous things. “Rejoice in the Lord,” the choir continued. There was superb cause to rejoice during tour. When the bus developed mechanical problems, only a van load of students could proceed to the appointed service. But God was with them and the service went amazingly well. The bus hit the road again the following day, all ready to go. Another time, the van stopped at a McDonalds to kill some time. A schedule change due to snowstorms had left the choir with some extra time. A patron noticed the name on the van and asked choir members to recommend a good church in the area. Madrigal Chapel Recording

��ԭ�� Madrigal and Handbell Choir recently returned from their week-long tour. Madrigal, led by Dr. David Brown, was accompanied by the newest faculty member at MBU, Mark Herbster. Herbster preached after every concert and promoted the school in chapels. The 39-voice choir traveled from Watertown all the way down to the Missouri area for their 8 days of ministry, kicking off the tour on Sunday morning at Tri-City Baptist Church in Blue Springs, MO. Sunday night and Monday morning were spent in Kansas City, MO at Eagle Heights Baptist Church and Christian School. Madrigal then crossed over into Kansas for an evening concert and a school chapel the next morning. Immediately hitting the road after the chapel, Madrigal returned to Missouri until Thursday morning. After a school chapel in Poplar Bluff that morning, the choir headed north to Palos Hills, IL for the evening service. After one more service in Illinois on Friday night, Madrigal returned to campus. Choir tour is a great experience, not only for the churches and schools that get to hear the concerts, but also for the choir members themselves.
