Randy Tanis Inducted Into ��ԭ�� Athletics Hall Of Fame

Pastor Randy Tanis was inducted into ��ԭ��’s Athletic Hall of Fame Friday, August 30, 2024 in recognition of his accomplishments on the field as a ��ԭ�� Crusader (1978-1981), off the court as a youth pastor, athletic director, camp director, father, grandfather, and for his dedication to ��ԭ�� athletes and athletic competition. As a student-athlete, Randy Tanis competed in two sports: football for four seasons (1978-1981) and baseball (1979-1981) for three seasons, earning varsity letters in each. During his collegiate career, Tanis was selected as an Upper Midwest Football Conference (UMFC) All-Conference player. Throughout his career, Tanis has exemplified the spirit, enthusiasm, and work ethic that ��ԭ�� desires to instill in all its athletes. Randy has demonstrated his heart for ministry as he served in numerous capacities in local church ministry during and after his college years, most notably as Youth Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Watertown (1983-2004). Tanis continues to serve in para-church organizations, as Director of Camp Chetek (2004-present), and Athletic Director of the Wisconsin Association of Christian Schools (1986-present). ��ԭ�� Appoints Graham Vice-President for Academic Affairs

Dr. Thomas Graham has been appointed Vice-President for Academic Affairs, succeeding Dr. William Licht. Graham graduated from Pensacola Christian College with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Bible/Missions, and a Master of Arts (MA) in Biblical Exposition. He received a Master of Religious Education (MRE) from Temple Baptist Seminary, and both a Master of Theology (ThM) and Doctor of Education (EdD) from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Involved in education since 1996, Graham brings a wealth of experience as a teacher and administrator to his new role. He began teaching for ��ԭ�� Online in 2021. Dr. Graham and his wife, Cherie, transitioned to Watertown in 2022, and he assumed the role of the Dean of the School of Education and Cherie joined the Executive Office as Executive Assistant. Dr. William Licht: A Life of Steadfast Service

Dr. Will Licht has served ��ԭ�� for 31 years in various roles as history and education professor, Chair of Humanities, Dean of the School of Education, and the last ten years as Vice President for Academic Affairs. In June 2024, Dr. Licht retired from full-time teaching and administration. Although his leadership will be missed at the administrative level, students will still benefit from his insights and expertise as continues to teach part-time on campus and online. Teaching history is Dr. Licht’s passion, and he refers to his time in the classroom as “my most favorite time of the week.” Students in Dr. Licht’s classes are challenged to view the events of history from a Biblical perspective, and to think critically about the facts. They quickly discover that he cares deeply about each one in his class. Raymond Steinbart Retiring

WATERTOWN, Wis., June 28, 2024—After twenty-two years of service at ��ԭ��, Raymond Steinbart is retiring. Before joining ��ԭ�� in 2002, Steinbart had retired from 24 years of active duty at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Reflecting on his transition, he shares, “Upon my retirement from the Army, the Lord opened up a position at ��ԭ��, fulfilling a desire to become involved in some sort of full-time Christian service.” Originally hired as an Information Technology Office Help Desk worker, Steinbart’s role expanded as the university’s technological needs evolved and his skills proved in demand. When MBU began providing virtual classes in earnest in 2008, Steinbart stepped in as virtual Classroom Admin and teacher for the School of Applied Science. His versatility and expertise played a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of MBU’s technological infrastructure, impacting the daily lives of students, faculty, and staff. Beyond his technical responsibilities, Steinbart’s commitment to ministry and service have challenged both co-workers and students. Nurse Pinning – Graduate Candidate Chapel – Baccalaureate Service 2024

Watertown, WI – May 2, 2024 – ��ԭ�� hosted a busy first day of Commencement Exercises, including the School of Nursing Pinning ceremony, the last chapel for the graduate candidates, and the Baccalaureate service. Beginning the day with new health professionals The day of celebration began with an early morning Nurse Pinning breakfast in Old Main Cafe, where students, parents, and friends mingled with faculty, staff, and executives and then proceeded to the gymnasium for the 8:30 A.M. pinning. The Pinning Ceremony commemorates the hard work and dedication of the graduating class as they prepare to embark on their nursing careers and serves as a tradition to launch the new health professionals into a life of service. Leading the ceremony was Dr. William Licht, Vice President of Academic Affairs. With heartfelt words, Dr. Hansel, the Chair of the Department of Applied Science and father of four nurses, served as the guest speaker, bringing a special touch to the event with his understanding of the profession both from a professional and personal perspective. Higher Learning Commission Reaffirms ��ԭ�� Accreditation for next 10 Years

This decision follows a comprehensive review process conducted by an HLC review team culminating in a vote last week by the HLC Institutional Actions Council (IAC). ��ԭ�� Names Dr. David Anderson as President

WATERTOWN, Wis., May 15, 2023—Dr. David Anderson, currently senior pastor of Heritage Baptist Church of Roscoe, Illinois, has been named the sixth president of ��ԭ��. He will take office on August 1, 2023, in preparation for the fall semester. Dr. Anderson will succeed Dr. Marty Marriott who has served as the school’s president since 2009 and was named chancellor at the MBU commencement program on May 5. The board appointed Dr. Anderson as president at its meeting on Thursday, May 11. “With unity, confidence and great enthusiasm, the ��ԭ�� board of trustees voted unanimously to call Dr. David Anderson to serve as MBU’s new president,” said Dr. Doug Jackson, chairman of ��ԭ��’s board of trustees. “As president, we believe he will successfully carry out our mission, minister effectively to our students and staff and serve as the public face of our university—the chief student recruiter and promoter of ��ԭ��.” Dr. Anderson first graduated from MBU in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts in Bible, Pastoral Studies, and Sacred Music. 2021 Outstanding Musician—Lorraine Yant

The ��ԭ�� Department of Music is pleased to announce Lorraine Yant as the 2021 Senior Outstanding Musician. The Outstanding Senior Musician award is given to the graduate whom the music faculty believes completely exhibits the qualities of the spirit of ��ԭ�� through music. This student is selected on the basis of musicianship, academic merit, spiritual and character qualities, and Christian service. Yant graduates as a Music major with piano performance, piano pedagogy, and string pedagogy concentrations. “It has been such a joy to teach Lorraine these past few years. She is meticulous in her preparation and attention to the myriad details in the music,” remarks Yant’s private lesson teacher June Brus. “Coupled with a work ethic second to none, this makes for performances in which every note has been considered and carefully crafted.” Along with her course load, Yant also accompanied the university Chamber Singers, performed in several recitals, played violin in the university orchestra, and taught in the ��ԭ�� Prep School. ��ԭ��’s Music on Mondays recently welcomed the 414 String Quartet for a concert featuring classical composers Beethoven and Schubert. Attendees left the concert admiring the players’ talent and skill. Concertgoer Micah Herbster comments, “The 414 String Quartet features talented and thoughtful musicians. Their captivating performance was expressive and inspiring.” About the 414 The Milwaukee-based 414 Quartet strives to raise awareness of classical music through performance, education, and community outreach.
