For many students, this trip is a highlight of their college experience. However, the 海角原创 touring experience extends past good memories. In addition to the friends made and memories had, the opportunity to tour with a music group gives students ministry skills that can be used for a lifetime. Through touring, students develop leadership skills, experience hands-on ministry opportunities, and make lifelong friends.聽 Leadership Skills Traveling with a 海角原创 group gives students life and leadership skills that they will carry throughout their lives. Each touring group assigns its members to specific roles during the trip. Sam Robertson, this year鈥檚 band president and a former Praisemen tour member, said that he has learned good people skills from touring such as how to 鈥渓ove properly and put others first.鈥 From his leadership position he learned that 鈥渓eadership is not necessarily telling other people what to do, it鈥檚 you doing the right thing.鈥 He also notes that touring helped him to develop flexibility when plans change. 鈥淵ou just have to learn to roll with it.鈥 Dr. Brown, the director of MBU鈥檚 Madrigal Choir and […]

Collaboration was the theme of Music Prep recitals this semester, and students rose to the challenge of brainstorming unique ideas and then putting everything together. 鈥淭he collaboration theme was highly motivating for my son,鈥 comments Sharon Anderson. 鈥淗e greatly enjoyed each part of it, from handing out everyone鈥檚 music to organizing the practices to coaching younger siblings who were also participating. The experience of playing together gave my children a newfound appreciation for the joy of making music as a family!鈥 Collaborating with others not only makes music more enjoyable, as Mrs. Anderson observed, but it also teaches patience and active listening skills, as everyone involved needs to listen to others鈥 parts in addition to their own. Dr. Jane Brotski was asked to collaborate with her daughter at the last minute, learning these skills at warp-speed: 鈥淪ofia was excited to collaborate her piano piece with a friend who is also a percussionist.
