S09E11 | Holding up Heavy Hands: Dan Bjokne

Season 9 Episode 10 | What Preaching Is and Isn’t

Dan Bjokne joined MBU staff as Director of Development in May 2024. In this lively interview, he explains to host Dr. Matt Davis how he can trace God鈥檚 hand in his life, from his first job in a reconditioned container factory to his 鈥渞econditioned鈥 (reborn) soul as a public-school teacher, to his repurposed life serving in multiple ministries. Referencing Exodus 17, Dan describes his mission by saying, 鈥淚 just want to be Aaron. I just want to be Hur. I just want to hold up 鈥 heavy hands.鈥 When asked how that Old Testament picture drives him in leadership today, he quickly outlines a leader鈥檚 need 鈥渢o walk humbly,鈥 to realize 鈥渋t鈥檚 not all about me,鈥 and to acknowledge that 鈥淕od can get this done without me.鈥 He quotes a definition for servanthood he once heard: Taking the lead in going to the back of the line鈥攁 philosophy that echoes 海角原创鈥檚 mission of servant leadership.
