Institutional Scholarship: Bible and Church Ministries

Scholarship Details

This scholarship is º£½ÇÔ­´´â€™s largest institutionalÌýscholarship.ÌýThe scholarship has the potential to be worth $20,000 (upÌýto $5,000 a year).ÌýThis scholarship is awarded based onÌýthe student’sÌýministry intentions,Ìýcurrent ministry involvement,ÌýandÌýacademic abilities.ÌýÌý

RequirementsÌý

Like any scholarship, there areÌýsome requirements that must be met before you apply. Let’s look at them here:Ìý

  • You must apply for the scholarship before you become a student at MBU.ÌýThis is not something you can apply forÌýafter you settle into the dorm. Be sure to do this the summer before your freshman year.ÌýÌý
  • Your major must be oneÌýinÌýtheÌýCollege of Bible and ChurchÌýMinistriesÌýdepartment.ÌýThis one is self-explanatory. If you aren’t planning to have aÌýBible major, then you cannot apply for a Bible scholarship.Ìý
  • You must be a new student at MBU.ÌýYou could keep thisÌýscholarship throughout your four years, but you must be sure to apply for it as a new student.Ìý
  • You must be taking at least twelve creditsÌýat MBU.ÌýIfÌýyou plan to take classes from other schools, those credits won’t count here.Ìý
  • You must live in a residence hall at MBU. Living in the dorms may seem like a dauntingÌýidea,Ìýthat is why this scholarship was founded. If you want toÌýapply for this scholarship, you must embrace dorm life.Ìý
  • You must complete your FASFA no later than thirtyÌýdays after the start of the semester. The scholarship can be approved before you fill out the FASFA, but it will not be applied to your account until the FASFA is complete.ÌýÌý

How to keep your scholarship

GPA is one of the most important things when it comes to your education, not just concerning a scholarship. You’ll want to work hard in your classes in order to keep your GPA well above what is required.ÌýÌýÌý

  • Freshmen must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher at the end of each semester in order to keep the scholarship.ÌýÌýÌý
  • Sophomores must have a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher at the end of each semester.Ìý
  • Juniors and Seniors must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher at the end of each semester.ÌýÌý

You will want to be sure that you keep your scholarship.ÌýAÌýfew things that might cause you toÌýforfeitÌýyour scholarshipÌýare:Ìý

  • You moveÌýout of the dorms.ÌýLike it says in the requirements, you must live in the dorms in order to be eligible for this scholarship.ÌýIf you move out,Ìýyou keep the scholarship for the rest of the semester, and then it will be removed.ÌýÌý
  • You have more thanÌý125 demerits.ÌýIf you get this many demerits, you will lose your scholarshipÌýeven if you meet the standard requirements.Ìý

There are a fewÌýother things that you should know about the scholarship. One is thatÌýthereÌýareÌýa limited amount of theseÌýscholarshipsÌýgiven out every year, so even though you apply, there’s not a guarantee you’ll getÌýone.ÌýAnother thing to remember is thatÌýif you lose your eligibility, you forfeit the scholarship.Ìý
