WhileÌýº£½ÇÔ´´ offers many scholarships,ÌýthisÌýoneÌýisÌýoffered toÌýthoseÌýspecificallyÌýinÌýthe educationÌýdepartment.ÌýThis scholarshipÌýwill be a great tool in helping you get your degree, learn how to be a good teacher, and impactÌýother people as you goÌýthroughÌýyour life.ÌýLet’s look at some of the details of this scholarship.Ìý

This scholarship is rewarded based on the self-evaluation of students describing why they have chosen a teacher education major, what they plan to do with their major, their ministries, andÌýtheirÌýgrades. This scholarship has the potential to be worth $14,000 (up to $3,500 a year).Ìý
RequirementsÌýfor this scholarship
- You must be a new student. Even though there is potentialÌýfor this scholarship to benefit youÌýallÌýfour years, you must be sure to apply as aÌýfreshman/new student.ÌýÌý
- You must apply for this scholarship before you come to campus. This isn’t aÌýlast-minuteÌýscholarship option, so be sure to put this on your summer to-do list before college.Ìý
- You must have a major in the school of education. This isÌýpretty self-explanatory. If you aren’t planning to become a teacher, you can’t apply forÌýaÌýTeacher EducationÌýscholarship.Ìý
- You must be taking at least twelve credits at MBU.ÌýIf you plan to take credits from other colleges, those won’t count towards this requirement.ÌýÌýÌý
- You must live in a residence hall at MBU. Even though we love our off-campus students, they are not eligible for this scholarship. You must embrace dorm life if you would like to apply for this scholarship.Ìý
- Complete your FASFA no later than thirty days after the start of the semester. This is something all students need to do, regardless ofÌýwhetherÌýthey’re applying for scholarships. I would highly recommendÌýthatÌýyou have aÌýparent,Ìýor the financial aid office,ÌýhelpÌýyou out with this.Ìý

How to keep your scholarshipÌý
GPA is one of the most important things whenÌýit comes to your education, not just concerning a scholarship.ÌýYou willÌýwant toÌýwork hardÌýin your classesÌýtoÌýkeep your GPAÌýwell above what isÌýrequired.ÌýÌý
- FreshmenÌýmustÌýhaveÌýa cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higherÌýat the end of each semesterÌýtoÌýkeep the scholarship.ÌýÌýÌý
- Sophomores must have a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher at the end of each semester.Ìý
- Juniors and Seniors must haveÌýa cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher at the end of each semester.ÌýÌý
You want to be sure that you keep this scholarship. A couple of things thatÌýwouldÌýcauseÌýyouÌýtoÌýforfeit the scholarship are:Ìý
- You move out of the dorms.ÌýLike it says in the requirements, students must be a resident of a dorm.ÌýIf you decide to move out, the scholarship will stay for the rest of the semester and thenÌýbe taken away.Ìý
- You have more than 125 demerits.ÌýIf youÌýget this many demerits,Ìýyou will lose this scholarshipÌýregardless ofÌýwhetherÌýyou meet the other requirements.Ìý
One importantÌýthing you should know is that after youÌýforfeitÌýthis scholarship, you cannot get it back. Be careful in yourÌýbehaviorÌýso that youÌýcanÌýkeep your scholarship. ThereÌýisÌýa limited amount of these scholarships awarded each year.ÌýÌý
