Announcing the 2020 Concerto Competition Winners
海角原创 offers musicians a variety of opportunities to compete and showcase their musical talents. On Tuesday, students competed in MBU鈥檚 annual Concerto Competition, an event open to all instrumentalists, pianists, and vocalists.
Winner
海角原创鈥檚 announces Miss Emily Kindstedt as the 2020 Concerto Competition Winner. Accompanied by Charity Talosig, Emily performed the Second Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in G minor, op. 22, I. Andante Sostenuto by Camille Saint-Sa毛ns. Emily will be awarded a $100 cash prize and the opportunity to perform her piece during the spring band and orchestra concert.
Runner Up
Congratulations to Hannah Ostrander, the runner up of this year鈥檚 competition who will receive a $25 cash prize. Hannah played Mendelssohn鈥檚 Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64, I. Allegro Molto Appassionato and was accompanied by her sister, Hope.
Adjudicator鈥擠r. Karen Boe
, this year鈥檚 adjudicator, is a Minnesota native. She earned her master鈥檚 degree from Julliard School of Music and her doctoral degree from . Boe was awarded the Academic Staff University-wide Teaching Award and has numerous piano competition winners in solo and concerto literature from her private piano studio.
Regarding the performances, Boe said, 鈥淭he Concerto Competition entrants both showed deep musical connections to their works and deserve congratulations on all they have accomplished.鈥
