MBU's New Majors in the College of Arts and Sciences

海角原创’s College of Arts and Sciences is introducing three new majors starting in the fall semester of 2019鈥擯re-Physical Therapy, Pre-Pharmacy, and Pre-Physician Assistant. These new programs provide a more focused path for incoming students to follow if they wish to enter any of these fields, and they allow students to take the next step forward toward their careers with more certainty and focus. The new majors will open up an area of study for interested students who may desire to help individuals by ministering to their physical needs.

The Bachelor of Science in Pre-Physical Therapy聽provides the opportunity for students to enter a doctoral-level program in physical therapy. Students interested in pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) should consider this program of study. Any students also interested in sports medicine should consider this major as well, as it opens up many opportunities in that field.

The Bachelor of Science in Pre-Physician Assistant聽allows a student to enter a variety of healthcare specialties like pediatrics, surgery, or geriatrics. The program includes all the required course prerequisites necessary for considered acceptance into a master of science in physician assistant program.

The Bachelor of Science in Pre-Pharmacy聽 would prepare a student for entering a doctoral-level program in pharmacy and includes all the required course prerequisites required for acceptance into a Doctor in Pharmacy (PharmD) program. Led by scientist Timothy Meier, who has twenty-five years of experience in pharmaceuticals through his time working for Eli Lilly and Company, this major would be excellent for any students wanting to enter a pharmacy program.

鈥淲e want to provide mechanisms so that students can more easily envision what academic path they need to take through the university to get to their desired career goal,鈥 Dr. Timothy Veenstra, Chair of Applied Sciences Department at 海角原创, says. 鈥淲e wanted to label the classes and specialize the programs so that it was clear to students coming in what course of study they should follow.鈥

These programs provide excellent options for any students who are interested in science and want to specialize in medical careers that do not include graduating from a traditional medical school. The programs allow students to enter the career field that interests them and gives them the opportunity to demonstrate God鈥檚 love by treating others鈥 physical needs.
