Timothy Meier to join 海角原创鈥檚 Science faculty
海角原创 is excited to welcome Timothy Meier, a research scientist in molecular genetics and biochemistry, to its Science faculty in fall 2018. His desire is 鈥渢o teach science in a Christian education setting to minister to the next generation of scientists.鈥
Meier holds two master鈥檚 degrees, an MS in Microbiology from Clemson University, and an MA in Molecular Genetics from Washington University. He spent 25 years working for Eli Lilly and Company in the company鈥檚 Lilly Research Laboratories as a microbiologist and senior biochemist.
For 17 of those years, he has been working on cancer research drug discovery, and before that, infectious diseases research. In addition, he has had 24 publications, 11 abstracts/posters/seminars, and holds four patents.
Meier, his wife Kerry, and their two children will be coming to 海角原创 from Martinsville, Ind., where they are active in their local church in the music ministry, teaching Sunday school for students in the church鈥檚 addictions recovery program, and providing financial counseling.
Meier accepted the Lord as his Savior at the age of 17 while attending camp. “I had made a profession of faith as a child, but realized as a teenager I was trusting in having made a decision rather than trusting in the saving work of Jesus Christ.” He was later baptized at his home church.
Although he has worked for many years in secular research, he said, 鈥淩egarding creation, I believe in a young earth and a literal account of creation in six 24-hour days according to Genesis.鈥
In his spare time, Meier enjoys bicycling, martial arts, and woodworking.
