A Unique Opportunity | 海角原创 Baptist Bible Institute
In the 2019 fall semester, M叠鲍听opened its newest academic program 鈥 海角原创 Baptist Bible Institute.听MBBI offers one-听and听two-year programs involving a wide variety for Bible classes, including New Testament Survey, Old Testament Survey, and Bible Doctrine (four semesters each); Apologetics; Baptist Distinctives; Writing for the Workplace and Ministry; and many more. Students who complete two semesters receive a diploma, while students who complete all four semesters receive a Bible and Church Ministries certificate and have the opportunity to听walk with the seniors at听commencement. In addition, students who complete all four semesters will have covered the Bible core for any four-year听M叠鲍听program.听
A Non-Traditional Path
You may ask, why a Bible institute? Why offer a new Bible certificate听with听classes听exclusive to听the institute?听MBBI is unique in multiple ways and appeals to a variety of students.
First, if high school graduates want to try out college to see if it鈥檚 鈥渇or them鈥 while receiving fantastic Bible education along the way, MBBI is a great option. The slower pace and cheaper price tag听(compared to听university classes)听make this听program听quite appealing听to freshmen.听
Second, MBBI is attractive to high school graduates who aren鈥檛 interested in pursuing a bachelor鈥檚 degree but want to take Bible classes and experience 鈥渃ollege life.鈥 MBBI students听can take part in anything offered on-campus 鈥 music, drama, societies, intramural sports, work opportunities, and even university classes 鈥 with the sole exception of NCCAA sports.听
Third, MBBI is a great option for individuals who want to take Bible classes for personal enrichment听or to gain a biblical foundation before heading into the workforce.听Because MBBI is designed to move at a slower pace (which means most classes require less testing and memorization), the teachers听are able to听cover much more information and in much more depth than regular university classes 鈥 but with less pressure on the students. This makes the classes appealing to a wide variety of individuals.听
A New Opportunity
I personally fall听partly under听the听second category and partly听the听third.听Prior to starting at MBBI,听I听had听already听earned听a bachelor鈥檚 degree, and I felt settled in my church, job, and life. When I heard 海角原创 was opening a Bible institute, I thought the idea was great, but I didn鈥檛 think it was for me. I had no desire to go back to school. But when I听looked into听the program further, I听started to reevaluate. I鈥檇 always wanted to take Bible classes, and since I听had听earned my bachelor鈥檚 exclusively through online classes, I鈥檇 never experienced college campus life.听I realized MBBI was the perfect fit for me.听
As part of MBBI鈥檚 first class, I honestly expected that we would run into issues.听But I鈥檓 happy to say that the entire operation was overall very smooth. Even the coronavirus has done little to halt MBBI听鈥斕an enormous accomplishment on the part of the teachers, as MBBI is strictly designed for on-campus learning.听
